It is a ministry and a hobby

Through the years church administrators have openly participated in an exchange of resources and information with one another.  I made a personal commitment long ago to try to help anyone who called or otherwise requested resources that I knew of.  In recent years, the requests for such information have increased steadily.  This site was originally envisioned as a way for me to make resources readily available to those who contacted me with such requests.

Because of my interest in web page development, in 2002 I decided to see if I could design and put together my own family web page.  So, I located a free webpage software program and a book on developing websites.  After several months of experimentation I posted my family website to a free webserver.  I now maintain my family webpage as a hobby, as I do this site.

Having already developed my own family site very inexpensively, I was convinced I could develop this ministry site using the same resources on my own equipment with minimal expense.

Due to my enjoyment of this ministry and website deployment, I update this site regularly, and even view it as a hobby and a ministry.
 

After developing and finding a limited free host for my family site, I was convinced that web site hosting with a mail server could be done, without limits, and hosted on my home computer.  After doing extensive online research, I have put together the following setup on a single home PC with nominal costs:

	Home cable or DSL internet connection with a Dynamic address
	Domain registration with www.networksolutions.com
	www.no-ip.com domain and mail server forwarding service for dynamic addresses (tracks your changing dynamic address for proper forwarding)
	Free Mercury Mail server software from www.pmail.com
	Free KF Web Server software from www.kfwhois.com (Key Focus, Inc.)
	Free webpage templates, java applets, and graphics all found on the internet
	Home PC with 1.8 Ghz AMD processor and 40 GB hard drive

Home DSL internet service (shared connection used by whole family on home network) - less than $50 per Month.  (I have subsequently switched to a cable internet connection with a static IP address)

Domain name registration - less than $25 per Year

Dynamic Name Service forwarding for domain/mail server - Less than $25 per Year

Fully depreciated home PC
 

This is a free site provided as a ministry and hobby.  It is a ministry to my peers and, especially volunteers in smaller churches who do not have access to resources.

It is not a business venture.  No revenue or income is sought or generated by this site.

I pray that this will be useful in ministry and assist those looking for church administration resources.
